The year of the Covid 19 lockdown. We missed our planned trip to France and so stayed in the UK for a short holiday with Hugh.

Towcester, around Leicester, Widmerpool (Notts County) (161 miles); around Newark, Scotch Corner, Boldron (near Barnard Castle) (146 miles); A66 past Penrith, Dumfries, Glenluce, Ardwell, New England Bay (173 miles); Dumfries, Moffat, Kelso, Ednam (157 miles); Duddo (21 miles); Morpeth, around Newcastle, Scotch Corner, Blyth, past Retford, Bothamsall (200 miles); past Leicester, on A46, past Coventry, Wellesbourne, Kineton (109 miles); M40, A34 past Oxford Newbury and Southampton (107 miles). Total distance 1120 miles (1800 km).

We stayed in small campsites listed by Camping and Caravanning Club or members' sites listed in the Caravan and Motorhome Club

..................... Widmerpool   Between Leicester and Nottingham near A46. Simple site. no good walks.
     
  Boldron   A favourite place run by Wendy, Mark and Josh. A large flock of lapwing was there and a few curlew. In early summer there were nesting curlew, lapwing, redshank and oystercatchers
 
  The best ever camping companions.          We have usually been alone in this site but in this Covid year bank holiday there were many more campers

  New England Bay near Ardwell on the Mull of Galloway Almost the most southern tip of Scotland. A severe weather warning for Dumfries and Galloway cut short our stay

  Nigel converted and old smithy plus dwelling into a wonderful single-story home with room for visiting campers

  Bothamsall   Haughton Park Farm, South of Newark in a farm next to an icecream parlour. Nice site with many good walks and molehills

  Kineton Hampton House Farm, Kineton, Just South of Wellesbourne. In an arable farm. Lovely site with many good walks. 10 minutes drive to M40 North of Banbury. 2 hours drive to home
